St. Patrick's Day Green Ombre Cake

Green is the color for St. Patrick's Day! This recipe is great to play with food coloring to make a beautiful green ombre layered cake. Basically, this is very easy to make with any of your favorite white cake recipe. The result is clean, pure, and minimalistic. Green sprinkle and small decoration will work great with the white frosting/buttercream too. Follow Iambaker.net for more details.

Ingredients:

  • Cake batter

  • Green food color

  • white frosting or butter cream

Directions:

1. Make your favorite cake batter

2. Divide it into 6 bowls

3. Add green food color following this guide:

  • 1st bowl: no food color

  • 2nd: 2-3 drops

  • 3rd: 4-5 drops

  • 4th: 1/4 teaspoon

  • 5th: 1/2 teaspoon

  • 6th: 1 teaspoon

4. ((If you are making a small cake, just remember to add food color in an increasing pattern))

5. Mix the food color with cake batter.

6. Folow instruction from cake mix or your own cake recipe. Bake cake in a greased round pan.

7. Let it cool.

8. Begin with the darkest green cake layer at very bottom. Add a layer of cream, and stack the second darkest green cake. Repeat until you stack the plain cake on top.

9. Add the rest of the cream on top. Slowly push cream to the side of cake as well.

10. Roughly coat the entire cake (Don't worry about smoothen the surface yet)

11. Chill cake in the fridge for 30 minutes.

12. Smoothen the cream when it's cold.

13. Top with green sprinkles.

14. Slice a piece of cake and enjoy this beautiful artwork you made!

**TIP for a clean slice of cake: Very Chilled Cake & Very Hot Knife

  1. Freeze cake for at least 2 hours before serving.

  2. When you are ready to slice a cake, place a very sharp knife into a glass of boiling water. Remove the knife, wipe dry and make your first cut.

  3. Dip back into the boiling water to clean and re-heat. Wipe dry and make another cut.

  4. Repeat these steps to make very clean cut.
