Sesame Seeds Balls are very crispy outside and soft chewy inside. Depending on what kind of filling you put inside, (or no filling at all) you can try a variety of flavors at the same time. Popular choices of flavors include red bean, peanuts, black sesame paste, etc.

They are made by rolling a glutious rice dough into balls, add fillngs, and roll in toasted sesame seeds, and lastly fry until golden yellow. Due to the frying process, sometimes the ball will pop open and create a "smiley face." This is why this recipe is also called "Smiley Mouth Cookie." It is another great traditional cookie gift to bring happiness to your friends and family during Chinese New Year!
